A copper alloy Late Iron Age or Early Roman probable bridle fitting fragment. The object is curvilinear, and if held in one direction, appears to be zoomorphic in design, with two curved and drooping ears above two bulging, rounded eye sockets. Both 'ears' are incomplete due to old breaks. Part of the nose or muzzle is suggested by two outward curving semi-circles, both of which are worn, the one to the left more so than on the right. The eyes sockets are deep-set for c.4mm, with an inner circle of 3.2mm and outer of 5.9mm. They may once have contained enamel, but no trace remains. …
