a Late Bronze Age socketed axehead. It is the blade end only, with the end of the socket visible. Invasive corrosion has caused the loss of the edge of the crescentic blade and some incipient surface pocking (pale and medium green) on otherwise deep brown patinated surfaces. There is some recent grazing, perhaps due to the plough. There is no evidence of deliberate hammer-breakage although fragmentation is a feature of Late Bronze Age hoards.
