Object type: SCRAPER (TOOL)
Broad period: BRONZE AGE
County: Somerset
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A possible crude flint end scraper of probable early Bronze Age date. The scraper has been made from a secondary flake (c. 5% cortex remaining on the dorsal surface) of opaque light to dark grey flint. It is fresh and complete (or near complete). The bulb of percussion is well-defined and there are distinct ripples on the ventral surface, which suggest the use of a hard hammer. There are two flake removals which have been struck from the ventral surface which could indicate this is a crude scraper.

Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A crude flint end scraper of probable early Bronze Age date. The scraper has been made from a tertiary flake of opaque light to mid grey flint. It is fresh and near complete. The bulb of percussion is reasonably well-defined and there is a distinct bulbar scar on the ventral surface, which suggest the use of a hard hammer. The distal end has been crudely retouched. The retouch is short and abrupt.

Object type: ARROWHEAD
Broad period: BRONZE AGE
County: Somerset
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A flint barbed and tanged arrowhead of early Bronze Age date. The arrowhead measures 26mm by 16.6mm by 4.2mm and weighs 1.4g. It has been made from a tertiary flake of mid greyish-brown flint and is probably complete despite the mild (probably accidental) asymmetry. The flake has been invasively retouched by pressure-flaking over much of both the dorsal and ventral surfaces. As the arrowhead weighs less than 8g and has a small length/breadth ratio, it falls into the Sutton type (Butler 1995, p. 164).

Object type: SCRAPER (TOOL)
Broad period: BRONZE AGE
County: Somerset
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A flint thumbnail scraper of Early Bronze Age date. The scraper has been made from a secondary flake (c. 5% cortex remaining at the proximal end) of slightly mottled light to mid grey flint. It is fresh and complete. The pronouced bulb or percussion on the ventral surface suggests the use of a hard hammer. The dorsal surface has recorticated, suggesting the reuse of an old flake, and this has been removed by short semi-abrupt to abrupt retouch around the distal end and part way up the lateral sides.
