Cast copper alloy socketed axe. There is a double mouth moulding, with a wide upper mouth moulding and narrower moulding below. The top of the side loop extends from the lower mouth moulding. Area D: Block lifted vessel: The Burnham hoard contained one almost complete pottery vessel which was block lifted (hoard item T.D.2) before being deconstructed along fault lines to remove the metalwork contents.
