Medieval incomplete gilt furniture fitting, strap mount, bent almost double, with both ends broken across a rivet hole. Counter-relief decoration on front face consists of quatrefoils alternating with S-shaped double-leaved plant motifs. There are only tiny flecks of gilding extant, and there is no evidence of enamel. Length >58mm. Width 7mm. 12th – 13th century.

Romano-British furniture fitting: very robust stud with solid, roughly hemispherical head and incomplete integral sub-square sectioned shank on flat underside. The front is decorated with four wide flutes running from the base to the apex, each flanked by a pair of engraved lines. Diameter 15mm. Height 9.5mm. Weight 8.18g. No good parallel noted.

Romano-British furniture fitting: "bell-shaped" knob with remains of square-sectioned iron shank embedded in underside, with a separate piece of copper alloy sheet rammed into the edge of the socket as a wedge to tighten the fix. The concave top, in very fresh condition, shows concentric turning marks around a central dimple-topped nipple. Diameter 25mm, thickness (excluding shank and sheet) 12.5mm. cf. Medieval furniture fitting, rectangular hinge plate of thick folded sheet, gilt on the front, the rear part being very much shorter and with a gently scalloped attachment edge. Three holes for attachment, only one through the rear part. Copper alloy spindle (now partly missing) and three pivot loops, the central being much wider (17mm) than the others (6.5mm). Medieval/post medieval furniture fitting, incomplete hinge with iron spindle, for a box or casket. The element with a double pivot loop would have been attached to the lid by means of three iron rivets, one in the centre near the pivot and the two set in lobes near the ends of curving arms. Between the arms there is a pair of three-quarter round moulded cut-outs flanking a trefoil projection. Fragment of medieval zoomorphic probable binding strip from furniture, bent narrowed thin-sectioned bar projects from the snout of a cast animal head that is highly stylised and angular with crudely modelled ears, eyes and mouth. The snout is pierced by a rivet-hole containing a copper alloy rivet. The bar continues as a bent D-sectioned shank pierced by a further copper alloy rivet and is broken across third rivet-hole. 8 x >110mm (unbent). Cf. Coad (1982) fig.43 and a hollow-backed example in Margeson (1993) fig.43, no.473. 12th-early 13th century.

Part of a heavy post medieval openwork mount, perhaps a furniture fitting, depicting a boar’s head within vine scroll, the front face carrying a mass of intense engraving, especially on the boar’s head. The edge in front of the boar is complete as is the straight (now distorted) base. The top edge is missing one short length of plant while the edge behind the boar is broken, with an uncertain amount missing. On the reverse an incomplete projection from the base is broken across a round aperture. 43 x >41mm. Thickness 2 – 2.5mm. 17th – 18th century.
