Unglazed earthenware medieval pottery cooking pot or jar, apparently wheel-thrown, with developed rim and sagging base, complete apart from three small chips missing from the exterior of the rim and a small hole in the base. There are slight exterior indications of knife trimming at the base of the neck, and some thickening at the junction of base and wall. The fabric is slightly sandy and the surface is reduced pale grey with darker patches. The rim damage shows that the majority of the core is oxidised, but nowhere does the surface appear red. This lamp was originally described on this database as: "Romano-British Moulded ceramic lamp with lug in buff fabric with traces of red slip. Decorated with cable mouldings, dots in annulets and a ring of dots. Of Wheeler's (1930) Type IIIB, known as a 'factory lamp' or firmalampe. Some external sooting near nozzle. In abraded condition. Length 98mm. Width 53mm. Height 23mm, including lug 40mm. Probably made in Gaul or Germany. 2nd or 3rd century." Part of Medieval pottery jug handle of twisted round section, in unglazed, reduced, hard fired, slightly sandy ware. The underside of the handle and the interior of the neck adherent at one end are part-oxidised dark buff. In very fresh condition. Weighing 51g. Cf. Jennings EAA 13, 48-9, no.318. 13th century.

Romano-British Tubular sherd in micaceous greyware. One end is rounded, the other broken. A median pre-firing perforation is 7mm diameter at the latter and 3mm diameter at the former. Length 34mm, diameter 18mm increasing to 22mm at the break. Of what sort of vessel or object this is a part is unknown. It is surely not a spout (12g).
