Medieval copper alloy horse harness stud, very corroded, shield-shaped with elongated and bent sub-rectangular shank on reverse. Decorated with traces of red and black enamel forming a possible escarbuncle, comprising central red dot with stumps of radiating arms and traces of five (of originally eight) fleur-de-lys terminals. Late 13th-14th century.
