Late Medieval or more probably Post Medieval iron side-dressing bearded axe. The axe has a triangular eye, now filled with corrosion, a flat butt and a triangular projecting shoulder (wing) on the lower edge of the poll on one side. There was probably a similar projection on the other face, now missing, these would have flanked the handle as it came out of the eye, reinforcing this joint. A copper alloy fragment, possibly part of the handle from a vessel of uncertain date, perhaps Iron Age or Early Medieval. The piece is formed of an expanded top section joined to an arched strip which may start to flatten into a second expanded section just at the break.
