Medieval finger ring, of stirrup shape. The hoop is slightly distorted and abraded along its edges. The ring is set with a roughly rectangular stone, which is held in place by two claws. A corroded copper-alloy axehead fragment: probably the terminal of a Middle Bronze Age palstave (c. 1500-1100 BC). The cutting edge is shallowly rounded and somewhat abraded. The sides only barely perceptibly flare to this edge. The break, a shallow diagonal, appears old; the solid cross-section revealed suggests that this was a palstave. Such an identification is reinforced by the presence of a central casting seam visible on the side. No decoration appears to survive on the fragment, though the patina is pitted in a few places. A post-medieval copper-alloy bifacial coin weight for a unite of James I, 2nd coinage, revalued (22 shillings), dating to 1604-1613. The weight is roughly square in shape with bevelled sides. The obverse depicts a crown over XXII s in two lines; the reverse depicts a crowned bust with sceptre facing right.  Measurements: 18.5 mm by 18.5 mm, Thickness: 3 mm, Weight: 9.00 g The type may be seen illustrated by Withers and Withers (1995, 12).
