An incomplete copper-alloy post-medieval double-looped buckle dating to the period c. 1550-1650. The buckle is D-shaped in form, having lost a loop, and in cross-section. It has a circular knop at the centre of the outer edge of the surviving loop, possibly with small decorative radial moulded ridges, now unclear. The pin bar has a small, pointed moulded knop at either end. The pin consists of a separate copper-alloy thick sheet which has been bent around the pin bar. This has corroded to a light-green colour, compared to the dark-brown of the frame, and may represent a repair; the lo…

A copper-alloy annular brooch of medieval date (c. 13th century AD). It has a circular, cable decorated (twisted) frame seemingly formed of one single rotation, and thus falls into Deevy's Class 3a for which a 12th- to 14th-century date has been suggested (Deevy 1998, 17). It has a broadly circular cross-section. Around a pin constriction a cast pin with collar below the loop, surviving in situ. It is circular in cross-section and tapers to a point. It has been bent to one side as a result of old damage. Both brooch and pin have corroded to the same light-green colour. It measures …

A post-medieval copper-alloy square coin weight possibly for a half ('spur') ryal of James I, tariffed at XVIs, VId, indicating it related to coins of the revalued 2nd coinage, dating to 1612-1619. One side seemingly depicts a spur with central rose; the other a mark of value with a crown above: the 's' denoting shilling might be discernible. These weights were replaced by round ones with similar designs post-1632 (Withers and Withers 1995, 38). Highly corroded, the coin weight measures 15.2mm by 14.9mm, 3.8mm thick and weighs 5.32 grams (81.94 grains).

A iron wedge-shaped object of unknown date. It is of elongated sub-trapezoidal form with elaboration at the wide end. The narrow end is c. 13.6mm wide. From this the piece expands gradually in width along its length to attain a maximum width of 36.5mm. From this point the object could potentially have formerly narrowed to a point over a far shorter length. Set in from the widest points were perforations c. 7.1mm in diameter. If this were the case, both holes have been abraded through at the shorter sides. Mitigating against this interpretation is the symmetricality of the object as fo…

A fragment of a copper-alloy blade probably from a sword of Late Bronze Age date. The fragment is pointed oval in cross-section with smooth curve on both surfaces and no discernible mid rib. There are old patinated breaks at each end and down each side, obscuring the original shape. However, in one corner the fragment does appear to flare out slightly, though this may be illusory; the width is generally consistent. It is 28.05mm long, 20.7mm wide,3.7mm thick. It weighs 10.37grams. The surfaces are slightly corroded.
