An incomplete cast copper-alloy double-looped buckle probably of post-medieval date.
The buckle was formed of a pair of oval loops; one has been lost to an old break at the junction of frame and pin bar. The extant loop has an effectively flat reverse, with possible central concavity from the casting process. The front is bevelled both externally and internally, the latter more steeply. There are hints of very small protrusions at each end of the pin bar. A thick sheet copper-alloy pin is still attached.

A cast, copper-alloy post-medieval asymmetrical buckle dating to c. 1575-1700, incomplete insofar as it is missing its pin.
One loop is broadly rectangular and the other loop is D-shaped. The inside of the D-shape loop has a pointed protrusion which could be where the pin rested. The pin bar is notably narrow, though the frame overall has suffered from corrosion, depriving us of much of the original surface and thus any decoration. The reverse of the buckle is flat.
Measurements: 38.5 mm in length, up to 26.5 mm in width and 3.78 g in weight.

A medieval copper-alloy rectilinear fragment decorated with Limoges enamelling, a strap-fitting, probably a broken buckle plate (c. 12th-13th century). The object is effectively square, with two seemingly original sides, parallel the one to the other; one of the sides connecting these is apparently intact but curves shallowly outwards. The opposite end to this last is ragged, with probable rivet holes at each corner, both broken through. At the centre of this end is a larger perforation which may represent a repair or modification. There is one further circular perforation - …

A twisted, but complete medieval copper-alloy probable buckle plate (c. 13th century). The plate is sub-rectangular, and terminates in a protruding zoomorphic head. It is folded at the frame end; the frame is missing. There is a central cut out for the pin. The fold is short to the reverse, truncated at the first of two rivet holes; it also tapers to its end on that face, giving it a trapezoidal shape. The second central rivet hole on the plate is located towards the terminal. While the rivet connecting the folds survives in situ, the second is missing. At the terminal the plate narro…

A cast copper-alloy buckle with integral plate of late early-medieval date (c. 10th-11th century). The frame is a slightly asymmetrical, elongated D shape with a possibly zoomorphic protrusion at the outer edge. The plate is slightly narrowed as it meets the frame, but widens slightly and gradually towards the attachment end, by which point it is approximately the same width as the frame. Adjacent to the frame is a perforation around which the pin would have been looped; the pin is now missing. Towards the terminal is a rivet hole in which the corroded remains of the iron rivet are …

A copper-alloy pin detached from a medieval buckle described as a 'disc-on-pin' type, and classifiable as Redmayne's Type B. The pin is formed of a large central circular plate with protrusions emerging from opposing points. The first of the protrusions is the pin tip, which gradually tapers to a blunted point. The loop, opposite, is slightly recessed on the front and curves back behind the plate, but does not form a closed loop. The front of the plate is highly decorated. It is moulded, with two main wide borders, that at the circumference lower than that within it. They both surroun…

A fragment from a copper-alloy single-looped oval buckle frame (c. 14th century). It consists of half of the outer edge and the side which extends from it. It has an enlarged outer edge which is flat; this narrows gradually as it curves and develops into the side. The outer edge had a transverse groove at its centre which acted as a pin rest. The frame has broken at this weak point where the outer edge is thinned. Although the buckle was presumably snapped when it broke the breaks are now smooth. A field is delineated on the front of the frame by an engraved border which follows the e…

A copper-alloy post-medieval double-looped buckle frame of asymmetrical form. One loop is trapezoidal while the other is D-shaped. The former has a central pin rest and rebated outer edge. The D-shaped loop is similarly rebated on its outer edge and features a central rounded protrusion internally. Overall the front of the frame is bevelled shallowly from the internal edge to the external. The pin is missing; traces of ferrous corrosion product towards the centre of the pin bar suggest that it would have been made of iron. The buckle is angled in profile, probably from use rather than…
