H, S, (1980) type Sutton b, closest in outline to examples i and j (page 122, fig. 45), of off-white patinated flint with the numerous small inclusions within the flint a mid-grey colour, one face has three small spots of rusty iron, probably from contact with agricultural machinery. Complete end scraper of conventional form; made from a secondary, hard hammer struck flake of glossy black flint with some inclusions, steeply retouched at the distal end to form the semi-circular scraping edge, small patch of sandy coloured thin cortex extant to one lateral side, showing the outside curve of the flint nodule this was struck from. A very useful tool in the initial preparation of fresh hides for tanning, effective in removing the subcutaneous fat from just below the surface of the skin. Neolithic, 4,000 to 2,350 BC.

Almost complete late Anglo-Saxon strap-end of Thomas Class E, type 1, with openwork relief decoration on both faces. The terminal end is missing, yet symmetrical. The attachment end is rectangular, split to hold the strap, and retains the rusty remains of an iron rivet at either corner. Core in mint condition, all flakes are hard hammer struck from a sub-cylindrical section of unpatinated black flint, with thin weathered cortex extant to the areas that have not been modified. One "edge" has been formed by bifacial flake removals, the thicker end has a transverse flake struck from it, a previous (cortical) flake scar has given the platform to do so. Small traces of clay remain in the deep parts of the surface mostly to one side,this is the remains of the deposit at site 3 it was recovered from. Lower Palaeolithic, Circa 600,000 BC, possibly earlier.

Possible weight, of sub-square plan with radiused corners, it appears that the straight sides have been hammered as the edges expand, an off-centre, sub rectangular perforation has been punched through the weight, four deeply punched flower/sun motifs decorate one face, each stamp has a central, circular element with eleven radiating “petals” or “rays”. Possibly an unofficial ¼ oz weight, maybe the stamps are an attempt to legitimise/make official its use, denote a certain unit(s) of weight, or are simply decorative.
