An incomplete copper alloy Medieval Mount possibly a binding strip. The obejct surives as a zoomorphic head possibly a lion or cat head.  It is roughly sub-rectangular shape with ears protruding at the top two corners. Slightly concave reverse and moulded nose and brow to the face, indented eyes and a straight groove across below the nose, forming the mouth, with a rounded chin.  Greenish patina. Measurements: 22.14mm long, 15.29mm wide, 4mm thick.  Weighs 5.2g This mount finds parallels with examples published from Norwich (Margeson, 1993: no. 473) and on the PAS

An incomplete post-medieval cast copper-alloy hexafoil mount dating from the 16th or 17th century mount.  The mount is sub-rectangular with a raised centre from which the whole is divided into six possible leaf-shaped segments with roughly triangular lines either side of each corner, forming true triangular sections in the centre top and bottom of the long edges.  The raised centre has a hollow reverse and there are two out-turned fixing lugs  in the centre of each short length.  The edges of the leaf segments are nibbled and corroded.  The mount has a gre…

A Post-Medieval coppper-alloy strap mount which strongly resembles a daisy or sunflower, and which dates probably from circa 16-1700 AD. The head of the mount takes the form of a circular flower head. The umbonate centre of the head has a diameter of 9.19mm and has multi indentations or stipples inserted to simulate stamens. Description: The front of the mount is moulded in the form of a circle with 6 larger flower shapes moulded around its outer edge interspersed with 6 smaller flowers and with a centre of 8 similar smaller flowers spaced around the central pierced hole for the central rivet. A bone handle or applique piece of probable Post-Medieval to Modern date. The object is roughly rectangular in plan and rectangular in cross section. The front face is decorated with zoomorphic creatures resembling seahorses with a curly tail (hippocamps?) a mane on the head and an eye, one creature on each half.
