An incomplete Medieval cast copper alloy single loop oval buckle, 21.95mm in length, missing its pin. The frame has an ornate moulded outer edge comprising two lobed knops flanking a constriction for a transversely grooved sheet roller which remains in place. The strap bar is narrowed, recessed and with knops on each end.  Circa 1250-1400AD. Measurements:  22.52mm long, 20.75mm wide, 8.57mm thick.  Weighs 6.6g As Whitehead (2016), p 22, number 95-96 and Egan and Pritchard (2002), p73, number 293.

Large decorative copper-alloy rectangular buckle probably dating to the late 15th or early 16th Century, probably used on a waist or sword belt. Roughly square but with the bottom and top bar slightly concave and tapering in thickness to the centre bar. There is an inner and outer engraved linear border inside which two sets of oblique lines are also engraved on each side. There is no trace of any pin. Dimensions: 43.09mm wide, 43.30mm high, 2.66mm thick. Weighs 16.7g. Ref: Buckles 1250-1800 Whitehead (2003) No. 479 p.78 Egan & Pritchard (1991) Nos. 447 and 450.

An incomplete cast copper-alloy double loop oval buckle with moulded decoration of post-medieval date (c. AD 1550-1650). Description: The front of the buckle is slightly convex and has bevelled edges.There is a notch at the centre point of each loop, with a raised knop either side of this pin rest. The pin is missing. The back is flat and undecorated. The object has a green/brown patina. A Post-Medieval cast copper-alloy double loop trapezoidal buckle dating from circa 1570-1700 AD. The buckle retains its copper alloy pin which rests against one of its pointed ends and tapers to its point. There are lobed protrusions either end of the strap bar. The buckle has bevelled outside edges and each half of its internal frames. Greenish patina. A cast Early Saxon copper-alloy D-shaped buckle, of Marzinzik's (2003) Type 1.10b-ii, dating c. AD 475-600. The buckle has a D-shaped frame with enlarged out section of the frame perhaps as a tongue rest. All that remains of the pin is iron corrosion on edge of the frame. Thickness of bar and outside edge 2.2 and 4.8mm. Measurements: 15.63mm long, 14.85mm wide 4.5mm thick, weighs 3.3g. Similar examples are shown on this database NMS-4F5795 and NMS-C99AD2, only a small number of such buckles were listed by Marzinzik's (2003, 31).

An incomplete, forming just over half, of a small cast copper-alloy double loop oval spectacle buckle with narrowed strap bar. Notch for pin. Green patina. Measurements: 26.95mml long 17.69mm wide, 3.12mm thick. Weighs 4.02 g. C. 1350-1650. This form of buckle is a common find reported to the PAS and Whitehead (2003) illustrates a vast array of similar buckles (page 54, No.307), which he dates to c.1350-1650 AD.
