An early-medieval cast copper-alloy strap-end, dating from the 9th to 10th century AD The object is generally rectangular. At one end there is a rectangular attachment element, now damaged. Object type: STRAP END
Broad period: ROMAN

This section, beneath the semi-circular upper element, has an incised border along the edges, and the edges are damaged. It is likely that there would have been openwork decoration in the section, the outer edges of which have been broken …

Copper alloy Roman strap end. The strap end can be divided into three general sections: upper, middle and lower. The upper section is generally semi-circular and is split to form two plates.
