An incomplete copper alloy wedge shaped object of uncertain date.  The object is solid and trapezoidal with a triangular side profile. The edges and surfaces are worn and rounded with casting seams surviving on each side surface and along the damaged thin long edge.  Measurements: 19.46mm long, 25.88mm wide, 7.65mm at thickest end and weighs 15.94g. The object resembles a miniature axehead in form but is poorly cast with casting seams around both sides and the thin long edge and is unlikely bronze age in date. It is also quite large for a miniature votive. As suc…

A complete unidentified copper-alloy object, possible clothes hanger of Post-Medieval date, c.AD 1600 - 1850. The object comprises of a central rectangular plate. On either side is attached an oval shaft. At the top of each one is a rounded plate with a circular hole for attachment. Two broken rivits are still in place. Beneath the plate one shaft is bent upwards forming a hook. The other shaft appears to have been bent in a similar mannor forming a hook on the other side but this has now been bent out of shape back across the central plate. The object is pitted and corr…

An incomplete cast copper alloy unidentified object of probably Medieval to Post Medieval date, c. 14th-16th century AD. The object is cruciform in shape with a short, plain cross bar comprised of two large rivet holes. The larger of the two segments is oval in cross-section on the shorter end and triangular in cross-section at the longer end; it appears to have been broken at both ends. A raised central ridge runs the vertical length of the whole segment and traces of diagonal lines feeding into this central ridge suggest a 'braided' effect. The other face is plain and undecorated. …

An incomplete cast copper-alloy object of uncertain use, probably dating from the Roman to Post Medieval period. The object consists of a tapering, flat-sectioned pin or shaft, which has a small circular loop on the widest edge of the reverse; this suggests that the object was meant to fix onto another component. The circular loop hole runs parallel to the reverse face and as there is iron corrosion in this area, it is likely that a further part of the object was composed of iron, similar to a brooch axial pin. The object is of an even dark green patina. It measures 42.6 mm long, …

A fragment of a cast copper-alloy object, probably Iron Age to Medieval in date. The fragment is sub-triangular in cross-section with breaks at either end. The narrower end seems to have been hammered into a pointed shape and it was originally wider, probably of similar width to the now wider end. It seems that the object has been bent inwards on itself from damage and that the crudely incised double line running the vertical length of its now inner face was once its decorated outer surface. It is possible that this fragment was part of a bracelet or crude brooch and could possibly…

An unidentified copper-alloy sheet fragment from a larger object, probably of Roman to Medieval date. The fragment is sub-rectangular in plan, with one rounded edge that has been pierced centrally with a large circular hole; the other end is broken and it is uncertain how much of the object is missing. Running down the vertical centre of the object from the circular hole to broken end are four evenly spaced smaller punched holes, perhaps to fix the object by means of sewing or smaller rivets or pins. The colour of the metal is of an even dark green patina, suggestive of this period…

There is a short shaft which is D-shaped in cross-section projecting from the bottom of the decorated disc. There appears to be a small casting sprue on another edge of the circular head or it may be a similar shaft as that described above, projecting perpendicular to the more complete one. The fragment measures 43.9mm long, 16.2mm wide, 0.9mm thick and weighs 2.86 grams. The central rivet is 6mm long. A cast copper alloy fragment of an unidentified object, probably dating from the Early Medieval to Post Medieval periods. The object was probably originally oval in shape and the fragment is curved to support this. Two ends of the fragment are broken; they are asymmetrical and one end is thicker than the other. Both sides are decorated with similar incised detail consisting of illegible curvilinear incised detail on the thinner segment of the object and then further incised lines delineating the thinner segment from the thicker one. The decoration is perhaps creating a zoomorphic …

A cast copper-alloy unidentified object, probably dating from the Iron Age to Roman periods. The object consists of a thick crescentic object with a small circular-sectioned shaft attached to one side of its open area. The crescentic portion ofthe object is severely worn but seems to be facetted with approximately eight thin surfaces; it is sub-oval or sub-octagonal in cross section at the flat-end. The other end has a narrowed, thinned circular-sectioned shaft which either would have served as a fixing shaft or perhaps is a small fragment of an original spring coil and pin. It measur…

The surface that is presumed to be the upper face of the object has a series of eleven projecting scalloped knops, most of which are broken to their base.
