The flan is damaged with a section of the edge fractured and almost detached.

Reverse: Four crowned shields placed in cruciform pattern, with a possible uncrowned lion shield in the centre.
Inscription: 97 MAG BR FRA [ET] HIB REX16.
The coin measures 25.37mm diameter, 1.28mm thick and weighs 5.49.

Reverse has a long cross dividing the legends with three pellets in each inner quarter. Inner legend CIVI/TAS/LON/DON. Outer legend illegible. Annulet stops, closed C and wedge tail R.
