A Post Medieval rim fragment of a ceramic glazed ware, a charger or platter probably of Metropolitan slipped ware dating c. 1630 -1700. The fragment comprises a rim sherd, trapezoidal in plan with a beaded rim projecting on both external and internal sides. The sandy fabric is oxidised orange with a slightly paler yellow core and abundant well sorted rounded quartz inclusions. The upper surface is decorated with trailed yellow slip decoration composed of a tendril with circular lobe, the entire upper surface and inside face of the rim are covered in a clear glaze. …

An incomplete roman ceramic sandy grey coarseware vessel, probably a small jar dating c. AD43-410.  Only the base survives comprising a circular foot ring which damage around the rim and a concave centre. Above the foot ring the vestigial remains of the walls survive with worn breaks with a slightly raised convex circular area in the base of the interior of the vessel. A ceramic rim sherd from a greyware bowl, probably BB1 with a flat grooved rim dating c.180-250. The sherd consists of a short section of rim and wall of a bowl with a flat grooved rim and wiped external surface. The fabric is sandy with well sorted rounded quartz inclusions and is probably Black Burnished Ware 1. The sherd is a dark brown/black with oxidised orange margins on the rim. A complete sub-spherical fired clay bead of probably of late iron age to late Roman in date. (100BC-AD450). The bead is circular in cross section and slightly flattened top and bottom with a circular hole 3.3mm in diameter running through it. It is fairly soft fired and a brownish orange in colour. The bead measures 11mm in diameter, 5.3mm thick and weighs 1.12 grams. Due to the plainness of this item it is hard to suggest a date but finds from the local area suggest a Roman date. A similar type bead can be seen on the data base SOM-2D565A.

A curved body sherd from a post-medieval stoneware Frechen Bartmann jug (16th/17th century AD). The internal surface is light creamy grey in colour. The outer surface is decorated in relief, on a mottled brown glazed. On this sherd is the majority of a sub-oval roundel within the field of which is a shield of arms, probably fictitious. It measures 50.6mm long, 29.3mm wide, 7.5mm thick and weighs 14.5 grams.

A fragment of Medieval-Post Medieval Tudor Green border ware, dating AD 1350-1550. This is a body sherd, formed of a light red clay. The fragment is covered in a mid-green glaze on one side. There are wheel marks on the inside of the vessel. The sherd measures 64.8mm long, 36.5mm wide, 11.5mm thick and weighs 37.25 grams.

An incomplete clay pipe of Post-medieval date, AD.1650-1690. All that remains of the pipe is the incomplete bowl which is small and bulbous. The rim is damaged. There is a small pointed foot beneath the bowl with no discernable makers mark and the tube has been lost to an old and worn break. The circular hole through the tube is slightly off-centre and measures 2.9mm in diameter and would suggest a rough date of c.1670 AD. A fragment of a Medieval-Post Medieval bartmann vessel, probably a jug or pitcher, dating AD 1485-1714. Only part of the handle of the vessel remains with a small section of the main vessel. The ceramic is light grey with a salt-glaze slip covering the outer surface only, which has a mottled brown colouration. The fragment measures 54.9mm high, 35.8mm wide, 13.9mm thick and weighs 48.1 grams. A probably Roman pot sherd of Sussex ware which includes small section of body and rim. Part of the interior side is darkened with soot and has some reddening. The exterior is orange/brown with some darkened areas. This is a flint tempered ware wit a grey-brown fabric. There are some circular grooves running around the exterior surface perhaps indicative of wheel construction. The sherd measures 65.8mm lomg, 34.2mm wide, 7.07mm thick and weighs 22.56 grams.

An fragment of a Medieval ceramic coarse ware bung hole pitcher, jug or cistern (c. 1350-c. 1450). This bunghole would have been from a coarse ware vessel, it consists of a nearly complete bunghole with a small fragment of body sherd still attached. The outer surface is an orange brownish colour. It has a grey core. The artefact measures 40.4mm long, 38.6mm wide and 28mm thick. The central hole is 14.9mm in diameter. The small section of body sherd is 10.8mm thick. The fragment measures 49.1 grams.

The fabric is orange in colour with a glossy orange-red slip on the inner and outer surfaces. The sherd measurers 25.9mm long, 51.3mm wide, 6.4mm thick on the body and 7.2mm thick on the rim.
