An incomplete and pierced silver penny of Henry VII (AD 1485 to AD 1509), 'Sovereign' type dating to the period AD 1494 to AD 1501. Issued by Bishop Richard Fox at the Durham mint. C.f. North (1991). vol 2, p103, no 1731. Diameter: 16.64 mm Thickness: 0.38 mm Weight: 0.6 g The coin is missing a section of the outer flan between 1 and 4 O'clock on the obverse. The flan is pierced from the reverse to the obverse at 6 O'clock on the reverse.

A nearly complete, very worn Medieval penny, probably dating to Edward III's Post Treaty reign (1369-1377 AD). Although the obverse head is too worn to use for identification, the legend reads: [ED]WARDVS[...]. Rev.: long cross with three pellets in each quadrant; legend: [...]DVN[...], which identifies this mint as Durham. Based upon the mint designation and the legend, it seems that only Edward III from this period is possible (cf. Wren 1995, Durham Type 1, p98).
