An incomplete Roman copper alloy Rosette (Thistle) brooch dating c. 20- 60 AD. Length 24.35 mm. The spring housing and the lower portion of the foot are missing. The arched portion of the bow that remains is doubly grooved, as is the footplate. This example is of the type without a repousse plate applied to the lozenge shaped plate. A late 5th to 6th century early Anglo-Saxon saucer brooch with an angular rim. A central ring-and-dot motif is enclosed by six running spirals with tendrils forming pointed lobes. There is a single raised narrow border with a repeated punched dot decoration at the perimeter. The reverse has a single perforated hinge with the remains of an iron pin with the catch plate intact. Possible mineralised textile remains on both upper and lower surfaces. Diameter 37.58mm, weight 17.50g, thickness 1.29 mm.

A Roman Colchester derivative brooch of double lug type. The spring is secured by passing the external chord and the axial bar through a lug with two perforations behind the head. The side wings are semi cylindrical. The forward hook of type 90 can still be seen in the crest which runs on a flat ridge down the head towards the bow, flanked by cavetto mouldings, and maybe decorated in various ways. A fragment of an Anglo-Saxon cruciform brooch, c. 6th century AD. The lower portion of the brooch has a collar with a faceted field below. The brooch has an animal head terminal with prominent raised eyes and rounded nostrils. Separated by three bands of double lines at the junction with the foot. The reverse has an elongated over-turned catchplate. There are remains of tinning on the catch plate, evidence to suggest that the brooch was completely tinned at one time. The brooch has been broken in antiquity.

A medieval annular buckle brooch, c. 1250 - 1350 AD. The circular frame is equally divided by four raised collets, each with a second protruding collet attached to the first, eight collets in total. The face has three oval moulded sections with dividing collars that are oval and humped with four indented circumferential lines of dotted punch marks. In the fourth segment the constriction bar is narrow and recessed with small raised collars where a small plain slender bent over swivelling pin rests.The reverse is flat and plain.

A Scandinavian brooch, 9th century, of openwork lozenge form, in very good condition and with decoration moulded in relief. The perforations leave a simple cross motif with a globule in the centre. The arms of the cross terminate in stylised animal heads, the eyes small domes in sunk relief, inboard of which are pairs of larger oval elements at an angle to one another, which represent ears. An incomplete Roman copper alloy Langton Down type brooch dating to c. 43 BC - 43 AD. A two piece brooch with a spring that would have been fully enclosed within a cylinder like housing. The decoration on the upper bow fairly plain with vertical reeding going towards the foot. The bow is also slightly tapered in shape. The pin and catch plate are completely missing. Length: 14.40. Circular copper-alloy brooch, 24 mm in diameter, with a raised border decorated with closely spaced transverse nicks. Neatly filling most of the sunken centre is a backward-looking animal in counter-relief, with four legs, a long neck and a large tail curled over the back. No details appear to have been added to the animal - there is no eye or mane - but the brooch is quite worn, and so these may have once been present.
