Small medieval buckle dating from 1250-1400. The buckle has a single oval loop with two prominent lobed knops flanking three grooves. The pin bar is offset and narrowed and the back of the buckle is flat and undecorated. The buckle weighs 1.82g and measures 16.7mm in length, 16.2mm in width and 2.9mm in thickness.

Copper alloy buckle, dating to the 17th century. The buckle is rectangular with a central circular sectioned pin bar. The pin remains intact and is a simple tapered length of copper wire wrapped around the central bar. The buckle has detailed cast decoration in the form of two cherubs, one at each end of the frame with the outside leg and arm raised around the corners of the frame. Copper alloy fragment of a Georgian shoe buckle dating to between 1720-1790. Only one side of the frame survives and is twisted out of shape. The frame is openwork style which became popular around 1750 and this particular style is known as Artois style. The piece of frame is made up of three flat length of metal attached together with small decorative lozenge shapes. The outer edge of the frame is thickened underneath and pierced for the spindle. The fragment weighs 6.48g and measures 53.7mm in length, 17.1mm in width and 17.9mm in thickness.

Large copper alloy Georgian shoe buckle dating to between 1720-1790. The buckle is in good condition and has been silvered or tinned on the surface. The frame is rectangular in shape with rounded corners and a slight ridge around the outside edge for decoration; it is curved is section for fitting on a shoe. The buckle frame is drilled at each side for the spindle which would have held the buckle tongue. Copper alloy buckle dating to the medieval period (1250-1400). The buckle has an integrally cast decorative plate and may have functioned as a spur buckle. The loop is oval and the pin intact. The buckle plate has a rounded section at the loop end with a thin central section (in the middle of which is a small square plate) and terminates in a trefoil shape. The plate has a single copper alloy rivet at each end both of which protrude through to the back of the plate. The buckles weighs 5.3g and measures 49mm in length, 13.8mm in width and 5.6mm in thickness.

Large copper alloy medieval annular buckle. The buckle has a simple plain circular frame (with a circular section). The frame has no restriction for a pin (so it can move freely around the frame) and is therefore is usually categorized as a buckle rather than a brooch. The brooch has the pin intact and this is cast. The pin has a sub-rectangular sectioned shaft and tapers to the tip. Fragment of a Medieval buckle of 'disc-on-pin' variety dating to the later medieval period. The piece is the decorative pin part of the brooch and would have been set on an annular brooch (although this does not survive). Several similar examples have been recorded with the Portable Antiquities Scheme including SUR-04AFF5 and SF7957. The piece comprises a flat oval plate with five dome-headed copper alloy rivets which are non-functional and simply decorative. The brooch has been gilded with much of this remaining. Copper alloy cast double loop sword belt hanger. The buckle dates to between 1500 - 1630 and is oval in shape with a central bar. The buckle has an integrally cast circular suspension loop for use as a sword belt hanger. The loop on this example is set at right angles to the buckle frame indicating a 16th -early 17th century date (during the 14th & 15th centuries, the suspension loop on ths type of buckle, lies on the same plain as the buckle frame). The frame measures 53.8mm length, 39.23mm width and 11.8mm thickness and weighs 11.13g.

The buckle has a simple single frame with no constriction for the pin (this is normally taken as an indication of a buckle rather than a ring brooch). The frame is plain and undecorated and the cast pin is complete. The pin is hooked around the frame but moves freely on it. It is square sectioned and tapers to a point. Copper alloy cast buckle dating to from c.1620-1680. The buckle has a double looped trapezoidal frame with moulded decoration on the loops. The edges of the frame are bevelled to add to the decoration. The central pin bar is narrow and the buckle pin does not survive. One end of the frame has large winged extensions terminating in knops. The reverse of the buckle is flat. The buckle measures 28.77mm in length, 40.98 in width and 2.9mm in thickness. It weighs 7.4g. Direct parallels to this type of buckle can be seen in Ross Whitehead's 'Buckles 1250-1800' Nos. 526-8.

A cast, copper alloy buckle with a single loop frame and an integral, decorated buckle plate. The buckle dates to the Medieval period (AD1250-1400) and may be a spur buckle. The buckle frame is oval with an extended protruding lip (pin rest) on the outside edge. The buckle plate extends behind the frame and tapers to a sharp point. Medieval copper-alloy buckle frame in the shape of a deep hollow animal head with small upright ears, a small upturned nose and a large open mouth. The deeply furrowed features are created with cast grooves. The inside of the head is hollow, and the reverse is flat with no decoration, indicating that this part was not visible. Copper alloy pin from a brooch or buckle, probably late medieval - post medieval in date. The pin is rectangular in section and tapers to a slightly rounded point. At the wider end there are the remains of a loop which would have attached the pin to the buckle/brooch (this would have been circular but half has broken away). On the top of the pin there is a small raised notch to prevent the pin from bending too far back on itself. The pin weighs 3.1g and measures 40.79mm in length, 7.9mm in width and 3.05mm in thickness.

The buckle has a separate plate formed from sheet copper alloy wrapped around the pin bar. The buckle plate has two rivet hole (one ant each end) where it would have been riveted around the leather belt of strap. On the reverse the end of the plate has broken away. The buckle measures 30.34mm in length, 12.62mm in width and 2.8mm in thickness and weighs 1.53g.
