Description:
A complete silver whistle dating to the post medieval period (c.AD 1600-1700).
The object is formed of sheet metal and is cast as one piece into a broadly cylindrical shape with a tapered end to form a D-shaped mouth piece. The other end is rounded. Towards the centre of the tub is a cut D-shaped sound hole and in the centre of the underside is a loop with a single chain link threaded through.
The whistle is well decorated. The rounded end cap is decorated with raised pellets in the form of a sexfoil with pellet in the centre. The back end is decorated with a band …

A complete silver vervel dating to the Post medieval period (c.AD 1600-1720).
The object is circular in shape with a round hole in the centre for attachment to a hunting bird`s leg. The name of the owner is inscribed in one of the flat faces (Sr, Rob Throckmorton of *). This is likely to be Sir Robert Throckmorton 1st Baronet (1599-1650) or possibly Sir Robert Throckmorton 3Rd Baronet (1662-1720). The opposing face is blank apart from a small amount of dark grey patina and some light scratches. This form of vervel is classified as Type A (Lewis and Richardson 2017).

A distorted cast copper alloy forked spacer from a composite strap-end of medieval date (1300-1450 AD). The spacer has a circular frame, with a lozengiform collared projection, probably intended as an acorn knop, from the opposing end two triangular shaped prongs of a forked spacer project. Apart from the acorn knop it is undecorated and finished with deep file scratches. The knop is thicker than the rest of the flat frame. A gold quarter noble of Edward III (1327-1377) dated to the pre-treaty period AD 1351-61. A more precise identification cannot be achieved due to the wear and condition of the coin. The external edge of the flan is feathered and the edge is folded. A pentangular shaped hole is present through the centre of the coin. The edges are slightly clipped.
The record and coin have been discussed with Dr John Naylor (National Finds Advsior medieval coinage) who notes that:

A large two faced lead token of probable later medieval or post medieval date (AD1200-1800). The token (or possibly a weight) is incomplete having lost a portion from movement within the ploughsoil. The token was originally circular in plan and has been cast within a two part mould. The upper face is decorated with a daisy wheel / flower formed of six oval shaped loops positioned evenly around a raised circular central boss.
