A copper-alloy artefact of uncertain date and function, but possibly representing an Iron Age ear ring. The hollow object is sub-crescentic , with two touching points at the apex. The undecorated surface has a blueish-green patina and is pitted from corrosion. Width: 16mm; height: 13.5mm; depth: 10.4mm. Weight: 5.74g. Several similar artefacts, identified as ear rings and dated to the La Tène I period, were found in the Champagne region of France (Stead and Rigby1999: fig. 120). An incomplete lead-alloy cloth seal, dating to the period AD 1650 to 1705. The seal comprises two flat circular discs, one of which is now damaged, joined with a small rectangular connecting strip. One disc bears the relief-stamped legend 'WOR/STED/REFOR/MED', within a stamped circular border. On the second disc are the numerals '41', which probably refers to the length of the cloth, in yards. Copper-alloy brooch of early Anglo-Saxon date (c. 450-550). Both the headplate and footplate are essentially triangular, with gently incurved sides to the triangles and rounded corners. A flint 'leaf' arrowhead, dating from the Neolithic to Early Bronze Age. The piece is pear-shaped and bifacially worked from a tertiary flake. Retouch is covering, scaled and low angle. The flint is a translucent light brown at the base, with a light grey patination to the upper half. There is a small amount of damage to one of the edges, just above the halfway point. A medieval copper-alloy single-loop buckle with integral plate. Together, the frame and plate are pear-shaped, the latter terminating in a wider, round, lobe. An integral rivet of circular cross section extends backwards from the underside of this lobe. A circular perforation at the frame end of the plate represents the point at which the now-missing pin would have been attached. The frame has vertical inner edges and steeply sloping upper surfaces. Part of an early Roman copper-alloy bow brooch, probably of Colchester-derivative form. The lower part of the bow and foot survive, the remainder having been lost in antiquity. The bow is of sub-trapezoidal cross section, with a ridge that extends down the centre of the upper surface, tapering towards the slightly rounded foot. A copper-alloy stirrup-strap mount, dating from the early-medieval to medieval periods. The tapering sub-rectangular mount is decorated with an elaborate pattern of zoomorphic interlace, executed in high relief, with openwork fields. An Anglo-Saxon copper-alloy pyramidal mount, presumably from a sword scabbard. Each face of the pyramid has two chip-carved (incuse) triangles at its base, with an inverted triangle at the apex.
