This fragment is most of a spring of four turns, an internal chord and a small portion of the bow. The bow is flat and the front has two longitudinal incised lines which are parallel. A post-Medieval copper-alloy handle (finger-loop) from a saucer-type candle holder or chamber stick (c. 1700-c. 1900). This object is in the form of a loop which is sub-rectangular in cross-section, a thumb-rest and a bracket. With the forefinger through the loop (outer diameter: 23.7mm) and the thumb resting on the oval flat plate (16.3mm x 9.1mm), the short projection comfortably rests against the second finger. A fragment of a copper-alloy brooch, probably an Early-Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) ansate brooch. Probably Weetch Type VII (c. 700-c. 900). This fragment is part of the bow and part of the foot. At the front two incised oblique grooves form a 'V' shape. There is a break at each end. The bow is ‘D’-shaped in cross-section, flat at the rear except for sub-square depression which could be a casting imperfection. The stub of the catch-plate is off-centre. The fragment is corroded and pale green with mid-brown flecks. Length: 21.0mm; width: 9.7mm; thickness: 4.1mm. Weight: 2.11g.
