An incomplete Roman copper-alloy sprung crossbar brooch (c. AD 100-200). The pin, most of the spring and the catch-plate are missing. This brooch has a central circular plate, 8.8mm in diameter. The centre of the plate has a circular cell filled with pale orange enamel. This central cell is encircled by another cell which is empty. The plate is flanked by a rounded cross bar at each end. A fragment of a Roman copper-alloy Colchester derivative bow brooch (c. AD 43-120). This fragment is part of the bow. From a ragged break at the top, it tapers in width to a break at the bottom. At the top the width is 6.1mm and the width at the bottom is 1.6mm. The upper part has a longitudinal central ridge flanked by a groove on either side. Below this section are seven transverse parallel grooves. This brooch is green and pitted and the breaks are old. Length: 20.0mm; width: 6.1mm; thickness at centre: 1.7mm. Weight: 0.70g.

An incomplete Roman copper-alloy Hod Hill brooch (AD 43-70). The pin, part of the rolled over head and the foot are missing. The pin would have been hinged on a transverse axis bar held in place within the rolled head. A small portion of the iron bar survives within the head. The front has four transverse grooves and the lower one is wider than the others. The rear face is flat. This brooch has a shiny dull mid-brown patina and is corroded in places. It is estimated that when complete, the outer diameter of the rim would have been about 145.0mm. The outer face is dark grey and the inner face is coarser and lighter. It is tempered with rounded quartz and occasional pieces of flint. Height: 54.0mm; width: 68.0mm; maximum thickness of body: 7.7mm. Weight: 38.87g.

The lower half of the bow, pin shaft, catch-plate, extreme tips of wings and integral chain loop are all missing due to old breaks.
