A complete Medieval to post-Medieval copper-alloy leg from a tripod ewer (c. 1250-c. 1650). The leg is sub-triangular in cross-section and roughly flat at the back. The sides of the leg are slightly convex and the back has a central longitudinal uneven recess extending from the break at the top to the bottom. The top is part of the body and the inner surface of the vessel. The foot is in the form of an animal's paw, perhaps that of a lion. This leg is drab green with patches of consolidated soot. The arm, projecting from a boss, is 'D'-shaped in cross-section. It has a terminal loop with three knobs. There is a slight swelling either side of the boss. At the head of the brooch a double pierced lug secures about half of the copper-alloy bilateral spring of eight turns. Part of the chord and axis bar is also present.
