A fragment of a probable harness fitting of Unknown date.
The incomplete loop has two breaks now making it semi-circular or 'C'-shaped. It is bevelled internally on the rear face. There are three knobs with recessed or concave ends at cardinal points. The object resembles an Anglo-Scandinavian bit link but the three projections are not characteristically like those on Anglo-Scandinavian harness fittings. It could possibly be Iron Age in date as it vaguely resembles some terret rings. However, the projections are a different form.
This object has a green patina with some areas of…

A complete lead alloy possible spindle whorl of Unknown date (c. AD 43-c. 1800).
The spindle whorl is circular in plan, hemi-spherical, domed at the top and flat on the underside. There is a parallel sided circular hole at the centre with a diameter of 8.1mm.
The object is grey with patches of a buff patina.
Diameter: 25.5mm; thickness: 11.2mm. Weight: 40.72g.
Spindle whorls, as an artefact type, can be hard to date accurately as they remained in use for a long period of time. The weight of the spindle whorl is suggestive of a thick wool thread being spun, as there is a di…

An unidentified cast copper-alloy object of unknown date.
This object is moulded at the front and concave at the rear. It is sub-rectangular in plan and 'C'-shaped in cross-section when viewed from the ends. At the front, the ends flare slightly and mid-way along its length there is a prominent transverse rib. The concave part at the rear has an 'hour-glass' shape. The two abraded faces at the rear appear to be breaks and each end seems to be complete. It was probably circular in cross-section when complete.
This object is abraded and covered with light green and off-white corrosion…
