An incomplete post-Medieval copper-alloy military button (1803-c. 1808). A button of the Newport Loyal Volunteers of the Isle of Wight. The attachment loop is missing due to a break. The button is circular in plan, convex at the front and concave at the rear. At the front it has a royal crown over initial capital letters: N L V (Newport Loyal Volunteers). This button is white metal coated at the front and reddish brown at the rear. Diameter: 18.7mm; thickness: 2.9mm. Weight: 3.02g. Two post-Medieval copper-alloy rings joined together (c. 1800-c. 1900). One ring is misshapen, smaller than the other and is oval in cross-section. A complete post-Medieval silver pressed cufflink element or button (c. 1725-c. 1800). This single element is octagonal in plan, convex at the front and concave at the rear. The edge is down-turned. It has a soldered silver wire attachment loop at the rear which is intact broken. At the front, engraved decoration consists of a scalloped and grooved octagonal border close to the edge.
