An incomplete glass vessel of Roman, third century date (AD 200 – AD 300). Maximum diameter: 82.2mm. Weight: 26.41g.
Two parts of a hemispherical cup that join together.
The glass is colourless (with a slight greenish tinge) and is decorated on the outer surface with small randomly distributed pimple-like projections. These features were created whilst the glass was in a molten state. The base, which is slightly concave, has a number of sub-oval concentric striations which are related to the manufacturing process and a small pontil mark is visible on the base.
