Roman pottery assemblage recovered from the surface of plough soil whilst the finder was searching with a metal detector. The breaks are old. The pottery appears to date from the second century AD to the fourth century AD and consists of: two handle fragments, weight, 0.100Kg., two base sherds, weight 0.028Kg., twenty one rim sherds, weight 0.362Kg. and thirty one body sherds, weight 0.314Kg. Complete cast copper alloy leg form a cauldron or other vessel of probable Post-medieval date. Length 66mm, width 45mm and 33mm htick. Weight 159.57g. The leg has broken from the body, a small fragment of which survives at the top inner side. All the breaks are old. The leg is sub-triangular in cross-section, flat on the inner side, and tapers towards a rounded foot. However, the front of the leg has a large longitudinal median moulded rib which is flanked on either side by a similar but smaller rib. Small patches of a black coloured patina have survived. The leg is in a stable condition.

Incomplete cast copper alloy vessel leg of probable Medieval or Post-medieval date. Length 37mm, width 20mm and 11mm thick. Weight 31.60g. The leg is generally D-shape in cross-section and has been moulded in shape to possibly represent a lion's foot. The upper part of the fragment has three vertical moulded ribs below which is a horizontal moulding, the lion's knee. The inner side of the leg is flat and the base of the foot is also flat. The leg is in a stable condition and has a pitted surface. However, a pale green patina does survive. The break is old.

Cast copper alloy rim fragment of a vessel of probable Medieval or Post-medieval date. Length 57mm, width 28mm and 4mm thick. Weight 23.85g. The inside of the fragment has some pitting and scratch-marks and possesses a shiny mid-green patina. The outer surface is coarse and pitted in contrast. As viewed in plan, the outer surface has file marks in the left hand corner. The break is old and the fragment appears to be in a stable condition. It can be estimated, by measuring the curvature of the rim that the complete vessel was about 24cms in diameter at the rim.

Eighteen sherds of coarse ware pottery of Roman date. Hand made and not high-fired. Four base sherds weigh 410g. and fourteen body sherds weigh 372g. Total weight 782g. The breaks are old. However, some of the sherds join together. The outside of fabric is a dark grey/black colour and has two orange coloured margins within. The tempering is rounded quartz with silver mica. All the sherds appear to belong to a single vessel and it can be estimated that the base of the vessel, when complete, was about 10cm in diameter.

Rim fragment of a copper alloy vessel of probable Post-medieval date. The breaks are old. Length 28mm, width 59mm and 5mm thick. Weight 35.68g. From the curvature of the rim it can be estimated that the diameter of the vessel at the rim would have been about 28cm. The fragment has a mid-green coloured patina overall. There are a number of fine scratch marks on the inner surface which is very smooth and shiny in contrast to the outer surface which is coarse and dull. The scratches were probably created whilst the vessel was in use.

The fragment is a complete base of a Vectis Ware vessel that was probably manufactured in the Isle of Wight and closely resembles Black Burnished Wares produced in mainland England. Fragment of a roughly cast copper alloy vessel of probable Medieval date, possibly c. 1400 AD - c. 1450 AD. Length 55mm, width 62mm and 51mm thick. Weight c. 546g. The fragment is the basal part (the foot) of a vessel leg and is the form of a lion’s paw (?five-toed). The underside of the paw is flat and the rear of the paw is also flat. However, the angle between these two faces is about 110º so that the leg of the vessel was inclined slightly inwards towards the centre of the vessel. The break is old.

Incomplete cast copper alloy handle lug belonging to a cauldron of probable Late Medieval or Early Post Medieval date (AD 1400 – AD 1700). Length 52mm, diameter 15mm. Weight 69.56g. The lug is circular in cross section and is integral with a small section of the rim. An oblique break across the lug and also other breaks around the rim are old. From the surviving section of the rim, it can be estimated that the diameter of the rim of the vessel, when complete, would have been about 20cm. The surfaces, except for the breaks, have a mid green patina.
