A fragment of a post-Medieval copper-alloy openwork buckle (c. 1720-c. 1790).
This fragment is one corner of the frame. It is moulded at the front and flat at the rear. The corner has a pair of conjoined ear-like features flanked by circular openings. Traces of a white metal coating can be seen in the crevices at the front.
Length: 19.7mm; width: 15.0mm; thickness: 3.1mm. Weight: 2.77g.

A small fragment of a post-Medieval copper-alloy buckle (c. 1720-c. 1790).
This openwork fragment is from the centre of one of the sides and incorporates a hole for a separate spindle. At the front, above the hole, are two opposed shell-like motifs.
This buckle is greenish brown and was white metal coated.
Length: 21.5mm; width: 9.9mm; thickness: 4.0mm. Weight: 2.55g.

An incomplete post-Medieval copper-alloy shoe buckle frame (c. 1720-c. 1790).
This openwork frame is moulded at the front and flat at the rear. The openings are sub-circular as well as elongated sub-rectangular. At the centre of the surviving outside edge there is a rosette motif which is flanked by grooves in low relief (It can be assumed that there would have been a similar motif on the missing outside edge). The frame is asymmetrical in plan, convex at the front and flat at the rear. The upper face is bevelled internally and externally. One loop is rectangular and the other is 'D'-shaped. The outside edge of the rectangular loop has transverse grooves on the upper face. At each outer corner of the 'D'-shaped loop there is a knop. A complete Medieval copper-alloy spur buckle (c. 1200-c. 1400).
The frame is circular in plan and is bevelled internally at the rear. The integral plate tapers in width from the frame to the attachment end. Close to the frame a separate rivet made of iron is corroded. A rivet at the attachment end is integral and has a copper-alloy a rove.
The buckle is drab brown and traces of gilding can be seen at the front.

The surviving frame is convex at the front and flat at the rear. The narrowed bar is roughly oval in cross-section.
At the centre of the outside edge there is moulded knop decorated at the front with a multifoil. There is a similar knop at each end of the bar. The tapering copper-alloy pin is ‘D’-shaped in cross-section, flat on the underside and has an open loop.

An incomplete Early-Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) or Medieval copper-alloy single-looped buckle with an integrally cast split plate (c. 1050-c. 1200).
The frame and pin are missing.
At the centre with the junction of the frame there is a circular pin hole, 3.5mm in diameter. The attachment end of the plate is divided into two and is pierced at each corner with a rivet hole containing the remains of a corroded iron rivet.

One half of the frame and the pin are missing.
The loop is oval and the front is convex and bevelled internally. The rear is flat. The outside edge has a central ornate moulding with two ridges forming a pin-rest which is flanked by a roundel at either side. The bar is triangular in cross-section and has a deposit of iron mid-way along its length.

A complete but misshapen Medieval copper-alloy buckle pin (c. 1270-c. 1400).
The shaft and open loop are ‘D’-shaped in cross-section, flat on the underside. On the upper face, between the shaft and loop, there is a narrow transverse rmoulding. The tip of the shaft is undercut and smooth on the underside due to being in contact with the frame.
This pin is corroded and has patches of a shiny dull green patina.

There is no constriction for the pin which indicates it is a buckle rather than a brooch.
The frame is circular in plan and is bevelled internally on the upper and lower face. The crudely made tapering pin is folded and may be a replacement. It has an unusually large loop. The metal of the frame has a different appearance to that of the pin.

A post-Medieval copper-alloy plate/chape from a spur buckle (c. 1500-c. 1700).
This plate is widest at the inner end where there is a cylindrical housing for an iron spindle, parts of which remain within. The plate tapers to a pair of hemispherical knops, one to each side. These knops form a juncture between the flat plate and hook. The hook is 'D'-shaped in cross-section, flat on the inner face.

The reverse of the plate is missing due to two breaks. It is roughly square in plan and was folded widthways when complete. The corners are recessed to accommodate a frame and there is a cut-out for the pin loop. At the front, each corner of the frame end has an unclear design. There are the remains of an iron rivet at each corner of the attachment end. At the front a raised design consists of a cross fleury within a circle. The rear face is plain.
