An almost complete cast copper alloy mount of post-medieval date. The plate of the mount is heart-shaped and domed, with a concave reverse. Extending from the pointed end of the heart is an open-worked trefoil. The two side lobes are round with holes in the centre, while the central lobe is oval and solid. A cast copper alloy strap mount. The mount is rectangular in shape with cut out trefoil terminals. The central rectangle contains some incised triangles in a rectangular shape. These markings help date the object to probably the late 14th Century. Five dome headed rivets remain in situ on the front surface. One sits in the centre, while the other two flank the trefoil terminals. On the reverse of the mount the remains of the leather to which this mount was once mounted, can clearly be seen. This leather is disintegrating. On the reverse of the dome headed rivets are five corresponding…

Date: 14th - 15th century A fragment of a medieval gold badge or mount, now damaged and incomplete. On one side, a standing robed figure cradling a baby probably represents the Virgin and Child. The reverse side is difficult to interpret, but may represent a vase decorated with a cross, with what may be foliage radiating from it. The edges of the badge are engraved with fluting, and may once have included stitching holes, for attaching to clothing or as a hat badge.
