An incomplete cast copper alloy buckle plate. Both the front and back plate of the buckle plate survives, with the leather sandwiched between the plates. The front plate has a looped extension at one end and rivet holes at the other, both are broken. Neither plate is decorated, one rivet can be seen through the plates. The metal has a mid greyish-green patina. The break is worn. It is medieval in date.

A cast copper alloy front plate from a buckle plate. The plate is rectangular in shape, with the bases of two hinges remaining on the left edge, these are both broken. They would once have looped around the strap bar of a D-shaped buckle. A rectangular border frames the plate. The face of the plate depicts a raised zoomorphic design (possibly of a dragon, or similar mythical creature) its body is facing left, but its head turns to look over its shoulders. A cast copper alloy double looped buckle frame. The strap bar is narrowed. There is no pin recess. The buckle frame is complete. The buckle is a mid brownish-grey colour and the surface is pitted. These buckles date from circa 1350 - 1700. Parallels for this type of buckle can be seen in Whitehead, 2003, p54.

An early-medieval copper alloy buckle that is part of a set with a strap end. These fittings date to the 9th -10th century. The buckle frame is oval with a pair of perforated lugs projecting from the rear edge. The perforations are orientated at 90 degrees to the buckle frame. The frame between the lugs narrows slightly to secure the pin, which is no longer present. An incomplete cast copper alloy buckle of medieval date. The buckle is a single loop oval with an ornate outer edge comprising two very prominent lobed knops dividing three transverse ridges. The pin is missing. The strap bar is narrowed and offset and has two knops at either end. The metal is a mid greenish-brown colour and survives in good condition. Buckles of this type date to circa 1250-1400. A similar example can be seen in Whitehead, p.22.

A fragment of a cast copper alloy strap fitting or buckle plate of post-medieval date. The fragment is formed from a D-sectioned plate of copper alloy, which flares towards one broken terminal. The other terminal is bulbous and broken. Two holes have been drilled into the flared terminal and both terminals have incised linear decoration.

A cast copper alloy trapezoidal shoe or knee buckle with an integral strap bar. The frame has been decoratively shaped and moulded with floral and leaf designs. There is a buckle plate, formed from a flat folded sheet, wrapped around the strap bar. There is a notch in the centre, for the pin which also survives intact. This buckle dates to around 1600-1750. Parallels for this type of buckle can be seen in Whitehead, 2003, p83.

Two rivets remain in situ. The front is decorated with a raised geometric design. The terminal of the strap fitting is formed from a double pierced lug. The reverse is flat. The metal is a mid brownish-green colour.

A cast copper alloy sub-rectangular shoe buckle, with a drilled frame for separate spindle. The spindle, chape, pin and tongue all survive. There is no pin recess on the frame. The buckle is a dark greyish-brown colour and the surface is slightly pitted and possibly tinned. These buckles date from circa 1690 - 1720. Parallels for this type of buckle can be seen in Whitehead, 2003, p102.
