A complete copper-alloy Roman penannular brooch. The brooch frame is complete and survives in an excellent condition, with a high shine patina which has worn under the pin loop, giving it a brassy appearance. Both terminals survive, both culminates in round knops, decorated with incised lines, arranged in a spiral formation. The pin remains intact and is looped around the frame, it has a squared off section and it has a flattened terminal. There is an incised line down the spine of the pin. An incomplete cast copper alloy trumpet brooch of Roman date. The head, bow and catchplate all survive. Only the spring and pin are missing. The head is wide and trumpet shaped. An incomplete cast copper alloy headstud brooch of Roman date. Only the headstud itself and the pin are missing from this brooch. The head has short wings decorated with blue enamel. The decoration is formed from three blue pellets in a column. On the reverse of the head the tubular hinge mechanism, axis bar and pin terminal survive intact. There is a ridge on the head of the brooch. There is a countersunk hole, where the headstud would have been attached. An incomplete cast copper alloy knee brooch, dating to the 2nd Century. The head, bow and foot all survive. The pin and catchplate are missing. The head is formed from a rounded, flat plate. On the reverse of the head the remains of the double-lugged hinge mechanism can be seen, it is badly damaged. An incomplete cast copper alloy Roman Colchester one piece brooch, dating to the 1st century AD. The object consists of the bow of the brooch, and the remains of the wings. The pin and catchplate are missing; the breaks are well worn. The wings remain complete in their tubular form with the axis bar and the upper terminal of the hinged pin. The bow has a circular section and tapers to the foot. It is undecorated. The object is extremely worn and pitted and has a mid lime-green patina. Parallel for this brooch can be found in Hattatt, 2000, p296, Fig:155.
