A cast copper alloy knop, possibly from a brooch. Due to the fact the knop is the only surviving piece, it is not possible to date it. The knop has a circular, flat terminal, which is joined to a spherical central piece. The outer surface of the sphere is coated in corroded iron, suggesting that it was joined to a larger item at this junction. The metal is slightly pitted and is a mid greyish-green colour.

An incomplete cast copper-alloy brooch dating to the Roman period (1st - 2nd Century). The brooch is of an uncertain type and has some unusual features. The wings and pin mechanism are cylindrical and solid and extend into a trumpet like head. The head then tapers to a wide rounded collar. The bow is long and slender and tapers gradually to the foot. It is undecorated. The catchplate remains intact and is tall and narrow, complete with the catch. The pin is missing. The brooch is corroded and and surface is pitted. The metal is a mid reddish-brown colour.

A fragment of a copper alloy dragonesque brooch dating from 75 - 175 AD. The head and foot are missing, as is the pin. The body of the brooch is formed from an S shape, both terminals are well worn. The front surface is decorated with a raised central grid of four squares, with two curved triangles at either side. A fragment of a cast copper alloy Bow-and-fantail brooch of Roman date. The brooch is broken at the bow resulting in the loss of the head, hinge and pin. All that survives in the lower bow, fantail and the catchplate. The lower bow is wide and rounded and the break is very worn. It extends into the fantail which is triangular in shape, giving the object its 'fantail' title. A cast copper alloy miniature Roman brooch, of a simple type. The brooch has a cylinder forming the wings. They are decorated with collars. On the reverse of the wings there is a slot for the pin to sit in. The top end of the pin can be seen in situ, the rest of the pin has broken off. The bow is simple and tapers to the foot. The foot has broken off and the catchplate is damaged. The metal is pitted and has a mid brownish-green colour. This brooch dates to the 1st – 2nd Century.

 A very fine and elaborate, almost complete Roman Trumpet brooch dating to 75 - 175 AD. This brooch has survived in a pitted condition. The brooch is almost complete but it is damaged and the pin is missing. The pin would have been held in place via the tubular hinge mechanism. An incomplete cast copper alloy Aucissa brooch of Roman date. The bow, foot and part of the catchplate of the brooch survive but the pin no longer remains. The head has also been broken off of the brooch and all that remains is the collar which acts as the junction between the head and the upper bow. An incomplete cast copper alloy zoomorphic brooch in the form of a horse. The main body of the brooch is formed from a flat plate of copper alloy, with a moulded front. The horses head is very clear and details such as the eyes, ears, nose and mouth are all visible. The body of the horse is decorated with raised lines. An incomplete plate brooch, of Umbonate type. The fragment comprises approximately two-thirds of the brooch. Part of the out rim survives, it is flat and undecorated. A cast copper alloy Polden Hill type brooch dating to the 1st century AD. The head is large and rounded and sits high above the wings. The wings are semi-circular, with a hollow cut away on the reverse. The terminals of the wings are rounded. The bow simply tapers from the head, to form a circular sectioned bow. The foot has broken off, which has also removed the catchplate. There is no spring or hinge mechanisms surviving, and the pin is also missing. Similar brooches can be seen in Hattatt, p300, Fig: 159.

On the reverse of the head the broken loop can be seen, this loop would have been the spring in position. The metal is a light greenish-brown colour and survives in poor condition. Brooches of this type date from between 75-175 AD. Similar examples can be seen in Hattatt, p326, fig.185.

Both terminals survive, both culminates in round knops, decorated with incised lines, arranged in a spiral formation. The pin no longer remains. An incomplete cast copper alloy Roman Colchester one piece brooch, dating to the 1st century AD. The object consists of the bow of the brooch, and the remains of the wings. The pin and catchplate are missing; the breaks are well worn. The wings remain complete in their tubular form with the axis bar and the upper terminal of the hinged pin. The bow has a circular section and tapers to the foot. It is undecorated. The object is extremely worn and pitted and has a mid lime-green patina. Parallel for this brooch can be found in Hattatt, 2000, p296, Fig:155.
