A rim sherd of wheelmade Roman pottery. The rim has an external diameter of 11cm and an internal diameter of 9cm. Approximately just over 10% of the rim survives. The rim proper is wide and well rounded and slightly hooked over at the terminal of the rim proper. Striations can be seen on the underside of the rim proper. On the internal surface of the rim there is an incised circle, which is about 3.3mm wide. The vessel has been tempered with shell ranging in size from < 1mm to > 5mm. This type of pottery dates to the later Roman period, circa 3rd - 4th Century.

A fragment of a cast copper alloy vessel of medieval to post-medieval date. The fragment is part of the leg of a cooking vessel. The leg has a flat base and a slightly curved, upright back. The foot is wide, with two ridges up the front, resembling claws. The metal is a dark greenish-brown colour and is slightly worn and pitted. The fragment weighs 65g. These vessels date from 1350-1850 and would have been used as a cooking vessel.

A zoomorphic cast copper-alloy spout probably dating to the 15th - 16th Century. The spout is tubular and terminates in a dog's head with open mouth; the tube spout protrudes from the open mouth (internal diameter: circa 5.3mm). At the other end it curves through ninety degrees downwards, and expands into a long, pointed neck where it would have joined the vessel. Some ceramic remains can be seen into this opening. This is probably a 1st - 2nd Century greyware vessel. Three Roman pottery sherds. 1) 75g. A wheelmade base/body sherd, with only a small portion of the base surviving. The body is undecorated and rises at a 45 degree angle. This is probably from a 1st - 2nd Century greyware vessel. 2) 41g. A wheelmade pedestral base sherd, badly worn and damaged. This is probably from a 1st - 2nd Century greyware vessel. 3) 9.7g. A fine wheelmade rim sherd from a colour coated vessel. The rim proper has a double lipped rim, with a groove cut beneath the lower lip.

A large cast copper alloy pot leg, from a large bronze vessel - like a cauldron. The leg in long and wide and rectangular in shape. It has a raised spine down the vertical centre of the leg. The leg widens to form the bulbous foot, which is flat. The flat angle of the foot makes the leg sit at a 45 degree angle. The pitted in corroded and is a mid greenish-brown.

A cast copper alloy pot leg from a large bronze vessel. The pot leg would have come off of a large cauldron or similar. The front and back of the pot leg are flat. The front features two heavy duty, but crude ‘claws’. The claws are angular, but extend upwards into two rounded lobes. The metal is a mid greenish-brown and the metal is pitted.

A small fragment of cast copper alloy, possibly part of a chafing dish handle. Chafing dishes were domestic utensils made of metal or earthenware for holding burning charcoal or other combustible material. This was then used to cook food or keep it hot at the table (Lewis, 1973). Each vessel would have had two handles. This fragment is formed from a strip of copper alloy, flattened on either side and filed. The strip is straight, with a dog-leg kink in it. The original surface has worn away in places. The neck and mouth from a stoneware jug (fired at such a high temperature that the clay becomes very hard and fully water proof). The mouth is circular with a triple mouth moulding. There are two thin collars in-between the second and the third mouldings. The remains of a handle can be seen broken off from the side of the neck. The jug from which this sherd came was probably made in Germany in the region of the Rhineland and imported. A cast copper alloy handle from a copper alloy vessel, possibly a ewer. The fragment consists of a flat section of metal which then steps down into the terminal, before finishing with a zoomorphic end. The terminal is in the shape of a dogs head, with an open mouth, ear and eyes. The upper surface of the flat section has been decorated with two incised circles, with a flower designs in the centre. It has a light brownish-green patina. Due to a lack of context it is not possible to closely date this object, although it is medieval to post medieval in date.

A cast copper alloy repair from a medieval to post-medieval bronze vessel. The object comprises a rectangular plate, with a slight curve, with a repair rivet pushed through it. On the front two opposing triangles can be seen, while on the reverse layers of plates can be seen, along with folds of metal. There are light greenish-blue stains on the reverse of the object. The metal is otherwise a mid brownish-green colour. Similar repairs can be seen in Egan, p101, Fig: 87.

The seal is oval, with a double border, with a series of lines joining them together. The design is of a flower, with semi-circular design and a pellet in between each set of petals. The jug was probably made in germany in the region of the Rhineland and imported. This sort of jug is probably 17th Century in date, and would have been used to import liquid.
