A cast copper alloy double looped buckle, with an intact strap bar. The buckle had two sub-oval loops. There are moulded and engraved rosette knops on the outer edges of each loop. There are also moulded knops at each end of the strap bar. The strap bar is very narrow. The frame is uninterrupted; so therefore has no pin recess. The pin is missing. The metal has lost most of its original surface and the metal is a dark reddish-brown colour. This type of buckle dates from circa 1550 - 1650. Parallels for this type of buckle can be seen in Whitehead, 2003, p63.

There is no pin recess. The pin is missing. The buckle frame is complete. The buckle is a mid brownish-green colour and the surface is slightly pitted. These buckles date from circa 1550 - 1650. The metal has a brownish-green colour, and is slightly corroded. There is a copper alloy ring around one of the hooks, with a reddish-brown colour. This artefact dates to between the 16th and 18th centuries.

A cast copper alloy buckle frame. The frame has one loop and a pin bar, but is likely to have originally had a second loop. The surviving loop is D-shaped, with a wide frame of constant width. The frame is decorated with rosettes at the ends of the pin bar and at the centre of the loop; between these there are transverse bands. The reverse is undecorated. The pin is missing. The whole artefact is very corroded and worn, and so it is not possible to say for certain whether there was a second loop. The surface is pale green and slightly pitted. This buckle dates to the post-medieval period.

A curious object that appears to be part of an asymmetrical buckle. The artefact has been cast in copper alloy, is consists of a square frame with a central bar; on one side of the outside of the frame there is a short spike, perpendicular to the angle of the bar; the spike is bent in a curve. On one side of the frame, a long curving piece sticks out as if forming part of a large buckle frame; this may be an asymmetrical feature, however, as this side of the frame is thicker than the other. There is no pin present. The surface is corroded, and pinkish-brown. This artefact probably date…

A wrought copper alloy buckle plate, with a small part of the buckle frame remaining. The plate is long and rectangular, and is pierced by five holes- two at each end and one in the centre of the plate; two of these, nearest the frame, retain copper alloy rivets in situ. The plate measures 35.8mm by 15.96mm. The obverse retains traces of decoration, in the form of an etched line border and accompanying dots. The plate is looped around the pin bar, and the reverse is the same size and shape as the obverse; two holes furthest from the frame are incomplete, as the corners of the plate hav…
