A body sherd from a Late Iron Age - early Roman handmade pot. The sherd has the characteristic 'eye brow' decoration. It weighs: 25.88g. The outer surface of the vessel looks slightly burnished. An incised line has been drawn into the surface of the clay, in an arch shape; hence the name 'eye brow'. The breaks do look worn but the sherd is not that abraded. The sherd is a mid reddish-brown colour, with flecks of ironstone.

An incomplete late Iron Age -early Roman copper-alloy Colchester brooch with a date range from 25-60AD. The spring of eight turns is secured by passing the external chord under a forward-facing hook which folds down onto the top of the bow. The short wings are relatively flat in section, are wider nearer to the bow and measure 15.3mm in width. The surface of the wings is pitted and so it is not possible to say if there was any decoration. The spring has been badly bent out of position. The bow is plain below this point and is D-shaped in section. The foot is slightly pointed. The catc…

A copper alloy Iron Age brooch of Knotenfiben (European) type, from the 1st Century BC - 1st Century AD. This brooch is incomplete; it is missing the pin. The bow, the catchplate and the spring all survive in full. The pin would have been held on the spring, the spring has two turns. There appears to be some sort of iron concretion inside the turns of the spring. There is a transverse ridge around the head of the brooch, before the head curves around into the bow, where there is a second transverse ridge. The bow is slender and tapers down to the foot of the brooch. The bow is undecora…

A mid-late Iron Age baldric ring, which would have been used as part of the composite belt, used to hang a sword. The cast copper alloy ring is very badly worn and corroded. The whole ring appears to have been cast as one piece, or alternatively wrought. The hoop is approximately 34.6mm in diameter. The ring has a projection (stud) originating from the front surface of the main hoop. The projection extends for about 8mm away from the main ring. The projection is slim at its base and then flattens out and becomes wider at its terminal (the terminal has a diameter of about 11.5mm). T…
