Cast copper alloy Roman decorative mount. The mount shows a crude bust of Mercury. The shoulders are shown draped. The face is moulded with incised lentoid eyes, raised ridges for the brows that join with a crude broad flat, nose with a short incised straight line for the mouth. The head appears to be moulded with curly hair though this may equally be the edge of the helmet. The helmet is otherwise plain. It has two wings extending at right angles to either side. Complete Early Medieval cast copper alloy pommel cap of 'Cocked hat' type. The pommel cap is sub rectangular in plan and pyramidical in outline. The pommel cap is hollow with slightly concave sides; there are no traces of decoration. To either end of the pommel cap are a horizontal pair of circular lugs with circular perforations for riveting the cap to the wooden (or other material) of the pommel. None of the rivets survive. Cast copper alloy hooked tag probably of Late Saxon date. The plate of the tag is square in plan and flat in section. It is decorated with nine raised dots, the top middle dot being the circular piercing for attachment. Two of the other raised dots are also pierced due to wear. Extending from the middle of the bottom edge is the integral hook which extends down and then curves back towards the front of the tag. It ends in a sharp point. Cast lead weight, probably of Viking date. The object has been cast in one piece and takes the form of a flattened sphere. One flat face has a shallow circular depression, whilst the other is damaged and it is impossible to tell whether there is deliberate markings (though it also seems to have a depression). The object is 13.92mm high, 20.82mm in diameter and weighs 33.67g. It is abraded and is mid grey in colour. A similar weight has been reported from Hertfordshire as BH-C5E266. Almost complete cast copper alloy Anglo-Saxon hooked tag of 8th century date. The tag has a flat, elongated triangular plate. Extending from the tip of the triangle is the integral pointed hook which curves back the rear of the object. This is now truncated and survives for no longer than 5.4mm. At the top of the plate are two circular perforations for attachment. The front of the tag is decorated with a recessed linear, geometric design of triangles and lozenge shapes. A nice example of a cast copper alloy medieval barb spring padlock. The lock takes the form of a central casing, which is rectangular in plan and section. At one end of the case is a rectangular transverse, aperture for taking the key. Within this cavity it is just possible to see the internal mechanism. The opposite end is flat and enclosed. Above the aperture, to one end of the top of the casing is the bolt arm, set on a short vertical stem, with a circular piercing, running parallel with the casing. They are possibly decorated with a raised diagonal moulding to either end, but the brooch is too worn to state this with any conviction. Cast copper alloy ring type thimble. The thimble is formed from a ring of metal with both ends open, which tapers towards the top end. There is an incised line running around the edge of both ends of the thimble, between which are the hand punched holes. The holes are large and punched in very uneven vertical lines around the thimble and appear quite haphazard. Almost complete medieval copper alloy buckle with plate. This buckle has an oval frame with a D shaped section. i.e. it has a flat inner face and domed outer face. It has an offset pin bar, though it is not much narrower than the frame. The pin is missing. The front of the frame is ornate, it is moulded with an outer projection to each edge, before which is a raised, pronounced transverse ridge.
