Part of a cast copper alloy chased and then enamelled vessel which was found with Roman pottery and charcoal and seeds which have yet to be analysed, but no apparent cremated bone. The flat-headed bow is sub-triangular in plan and crescentic in section, with a hollow back; it is 11 mm wide at its head, tapering to 5.5 mm at its broken end before it extends to the foot. Silver gilt dress hook with a tear-shaped backplate and pinked edge. The plate is 19 mm long, 17 mm wide and 1 mm thick. At the apex of the tear a recurving hook is soldered onto the backplate, which would have hooked through the corresponding eye on the opposite dress fitting to hold the item of clothing together. An incomplete cast copper alloy Roman Colchester-derivative hinged brooch. Both wings of the crossbar are decorated with five incised, parallel grooves which run around the front half of the circumference of the bar. There is a bulbous terminal at each end that is 6 mm in diameter. The back of the crossbar is corroded on one side exposing the copper alloy spindle within that would have held the hinge.
