A silver voided long-cross penny of Henry III (1216-1272), Long cross coinage (1247-1272), Class Vg (1258-1265) moneyer Ambroci, mint of Canterbury. These voided long cross pennies were cut into halves and quarters to create smaller change, but this coin was not folded along the cross arms for this purpose and was more likely folded as part of a rite of pilgrimage (Rob Webley pers comm). Cf. Wren, 1993, pp.29 & 32, Class Vg.
