The coin has been perforated in antiquity with a square-shaped hole, with the jagged edge of the pushed through metal on the reverse and the depressed edge on the obverse. This square hole was created by a square-shaped Roman nail when the coin was nailed to a surface. This would suggest possible ritual activity. (Sam Moorhead pers comm)
