Very slightly longitudinally bowed oval-sectioned shank, transverse rib and triangular step down to flat-sectioned openwork mushroom-shape, very small short stem with narrow mushroom-shaped projection at one end, other end steps down to flat-sectioned perforated terminal, 52 x 15mm. Flat on reverse. An similar example on the Portable Antiquities Database (from Owslebury, Hampshire) is described as an Early Medieval key, the reference cited for this identification is G. Incomplete copper alloy key handle, broken at springing of missing tubular shank, remains of openwork quatrefoil bow with keyhole-shaped perforations radiating from the centre, outside edge of outer foil missing (worn and broken). Measuring at least 44 x 34mm. Cf. an example from North Walsham (Norfolk HER 53877) and the very similar LANCUM-182B26.

Rectangular-sectioned flat oval bow, expanded at either end with a notch above and below, before a pierced lug terminal for suspension or attachment at one end and the short circular-sectioned stem at the other. There are three transverse grooves on the stem at the join with the bow and two around the hollow terminal. Rectangular wedge-shaped bit with single cleft on front edge. External diameter of bow 12mm, total length 53mm, bit 11 x 11mm. 13th – 14th century.
