Possibly Roman or Anglo-Saxon. A silver circular sectioned ring and rectangular sectioned double spiked loop, probably from furniture or a vessel. The loop around the ring is straight sided, with decoration comprising of four longitudinal ribs. The two pointed ends narrow from the base of the loop, and have only a small gap between them so that together they form a short spike. Roman copper alloy furniture fitting or possibly a lock pin. A corroded and broken rectangular-sectioned shank with a circular-sectioned terminal consisting of a double-moulded collar, before tapering towards a collared, rounded knop at the apex. Total surviving length 41mm. Terminal length 22mm, diameter 9mm. Shank at most complete point 5 x 8mm. Roman copper alloy furniture fitting, perhaps a casket or box mount. Hollow backed, circular stud with the lion's face in high relief, with grooves defining the mouth and snout, and details of the eyes. The outer flange is engraved with radiating lines representing the mane around rounded ears. The reverse of the mount is filled with white metal and a central corroded iron shank. Diameter 25mm. Height 13mm. For similar examples see NMS-DB80B4, and an example from Skeleton Green, Hertfordshire (Partridge, 1981, 314, fig.119a). Circa 43 - 150 AD.

Medieval, probably a furniture fitting: strip (5.5mm wide and 2mm thick) broken across an attachment hole at one end, the other end thickening and turning to form an animal head in the round. The head, perhaps of a dog, has projecting ears and partly open mouth. Wear has removed most surface details. It is 11mm long, 7mm across the ears and 4mm thick across the snout. Perhaps a box or casket mount fitted vertically. Probably 12th or 13th century.

Medieval copper alloy casket mount or binding strip, highly corroded. Transverse and angled mouldings at either end of a section of triangular-sectioned bar, broken accross a rivet hole at one end, with a flat-sectioned terminal with two rivet holes at the other. Slight traces of gilding survive on the otherwise corroded surface. Surviving length 65mm. Width 10mm. 12th - 14th century.

Two medieval or post-medieval copper alloy attachment studs, one retaining an incomplete handle, from furniture or chafing dish. Rectangular-sectioned loop handle with incurved sides and straight top, missing base, through separate transversely pierced attachment stud. One unattached transversely pierced, attachment stud. Studs 21 x 9 x 15mm and 23 x 9 x 15mm. Maximum surviving width of loop handle 52mm. See Margeson (1993, 80, fig.45, nos.489 and 490). Circa 1400 - 1600.

Incomplete escutcheon plate in the form of a stylised openwork two headed crowned eagle, the bird's heads bent to join the wings,the outwardly bent feet forming rectangular apertures, the plate broken acorss a keyhole.The simple three pointed crown, elongated necks, displayed wings and feet are covered in lines of engraved rockerarm, with stamped annulets forming the eyes, and a single stamped heart above the keyhole in the centre of the bird's breast. Post-medieval furniture fitting. An incomplete cast copper alloy drop handle with a trapezoidal suspension / attachment loop, with short spiked projections to either side above a constriction before expanding to a rectangular plate which is decorated with a slightly raised triangular panel. The plate terminates in an irregular transverse break. Surviving length 36mm. Width 16mm. For similar examples see Read (1995, 162, no.1086) and Macquoid and Edwards (1954, vol.II, 303, fig.16a), c. 1660 - 1710.
