Romano-British lozengiform plate brooch. Pin, part of terminal near hinge missing and part of one side knop. The enamel in the central lozenge is missing / decayed so the original colour can not be identified. The two surrounding lozengiform ribs are decorated with fine transversely slashed grooves. >36mm x c.27mm. Similar to Hattatt no.1090. 2nd century.

Romano-British Sprung copper alloy Dolphin brooch, spring, pin, part of rear hook, catchplate and tip of foot missing, end of one wing missing. On both wings a pair of baluster mouldings with a very thin wavy-line rib between them. The bow has a median arris on the reverse and on the convex front a median groove down the centre of which another thin wavy-line rib. Both groove and rib descend to the foot. Despite some recent damage the moulded details are very fresh. For this type of decoration see Hattatt no.887. Wingspan c.22mm, length >39mm. c.40-65 AD.

Roman copper alloy Colchester Derivative bow brooch with rear hook (Mackreth 2011 CD RH). Both C-sectioned wings broken, with an angled transverse groove surviving on one and possible traces of solder on the reverse, D-sectioned bow with a groove along either edge. Pin, spring, rear-hook and lower part of bow missing. Surviving width 18mm. Surviving length 23mm. Circa AD 43 - 65.

Tubular wings holding corroded iron axis bar and fragment of copper alloy pin, D-sectioned bow broken before foot. Very worn with slight traces of grooves on the wings and bow. Width 35mm. Surviving length 23mm. Circa AD 50 - 150.

Late medieval or post-medieval silver, gilded brooch with open, slightly angled flat-sectioned frame. The upper face is decorated with filigree and pellets, with a line of twisted wire around the internal and external edges either side of a row of pellets each surrounded by an annulet of twisted wire with two small pellets between each of the larger pellets. The frame is pierced for a cast, D-sectioned pin with a double transverse moulding before the loop and recessed on the underside for the frame.
External diameter 19mm. Internal diameter 10.5mm. Weight 1.0g.
