Summary: Bronze Age hoard consisting of 191 objects including wood and cloth. The finds were found with a metal detector in the ploughsoil over an area at least 30ft. across, and the site was subsequently excavated by Andrew Rogerson. The site was ridged for asparagus immediately prior to the first discovery. During excavation, the surface was removed to reveal an almost square pit (300 x 300mm) cut into natural orange clay to a depth of 90mm. Fragment of Middle Bronze Age rapier (Group IV in the scheme of Burgess & Gerloff 1981). Hafting-plate with convex upper edge, broken on either side across a large rivet hole or possible notches, tapering smoothly to the pointed oval-sectioned blade, slightly bevelled for the cutting edge, with an ancient, transverse break. The edges are damaged and corroded. Circa 1600 - 1000 BC. Surviving length 73mm. Width 37mm. Width of blade at break 15.5mm. Thickness at break 5mm.

Middle Bronze Age ceremonial dirk, the second recorded from Norfolk. The first was recovered from Oxborough in 1988 found point down in peaty deposits (Needham 1990; Collins 2013, 52). The landowner was said to have observed the second dirk being ploughed up, it then remained in the farm office for some years, occasionally being used to prop the door open. Late Bronze Age penannular ring fragment, or 'ring money'. Sub-oval-section, slightly flattened on the upper and lower face, with a copper alloy core and outer banded gold sheath. The banding appears lighter with an almost silvery colour on the outer face and a darker, slightly blackened appearance on the inner face. Broken at both ends with possible traces of having been cut or chopped. The exposed copper alloy surface is fairly corroded, suggesting ancient breaks. See NMS-5D0C86 for a similar complete example. An incomplete Beaker period barbed and tanged arrowhead of semi-translucent fine quality flint with no rough inclusions, now patinated an attractive orange colour. The piece is missing both barbs and the tip with some minor damage to both lateral edges. All breaks appear to be ancient. This is unfortunate as the shape of the barbs are the defining characteristic for Green's typology (1980). Both faces are competently pressure flaked with overlapping flake scars.
