Description: Unidentified silver object, possibly a mount, complete but in two refitting pieces. The object is cruciform in shape, comprising a central rectangular panel from which project four animal-heads, forming the arms of the cross. One animal-head has broken off at the neck and is now separate; two are bent inwards at 90 degrees to the central panel, and the fourth is almost straight with a slight inward curve. Post-medieval silver bodkin or headdress pin. Rectangular-sectioned, tapering to the blunt point, broken across the rectangular slot at the upper end, the terminal missing. Decorated alike on both faces with two transverse lines below the slot from the lower of which multiple longitudinal engraved lines descend, lengthening towards the centre. Terminal from an incomplete medieval silver book clasp of Howsam type A.9.2. Box-like lozenge-shaped composite element formed from an front-plate, back-plate and separate sides, with four radiating engraved notches on the upper face, one in the centre of each edge, and four concave grooves, one across each corner. One half of a post-medieval silver cuff-link. Circular, with angled flange, crown above two hearts in low relief reserved on a stippled field, now very worn. Separate loop soldered to reverse. Diameter 14mm. Weight 0.8g. A well known type, see similar examples recorded on the PAS database including SUSS-E88264, SWYOR-52C053, NMS-3C11C7 and NMS-BE7442. The crowned hearts may refer to the marriage of Charles II to Catherine of Braganza in 1662.

Incomplete medieval silver annular brooch. Broken circular sectioned frame with two (probably of originally four) knops around the frame, each decorated with multiple stamped annulets but now worn smooth over much of the surface. Tiny traces of gilding survive on the knops. There is a long patch of solder on the frame between the two surviving knops indicating an unknown missing element. Pin missing. Fragment of medieval or post-medieval silver whistle. Distorted, damaged and incomplete half of the originally spherical sheet body or buoy with octofoil design in low relief. For similar examples see TAR 2002 (101, no.125), and SWYOR-F07E07 (a near complete example with very similar decoration). Another similar whistle made of lead / tin alloy in the collections of the Museum of London (96.24/2) is illustrated in Egan (2005, 124, fig.118a). Medieval or post-medieval, 15th - 16th century. A gold posy ring with a shallow D-sectioned band which is undecorated externally, and inscribed internally In thy sight is my delight followed by a stamped maker's mark within a square, possibly JD. The D is clear, but the first letter of the maker's mark is less certain. The band is now distorted, and slightly damaged at points along the edges. The inscription can be found in the British Museum collections, AF.1301, dated 17th-18th Century. The maker's mark does not appear in any of the standard resources. 17th - 18th century.
