Fragment of medieval or post-medieval silver spoon. Incomplete handle of slightly flattened hexagonal section with very short triangular moulding on the reverse of the bowl. The surviving shoulders of the bowl are fairly straight and at a narrow angle of slightly less than 90 degrees to each other but not enough survives to suggest a bowl shape. There is a stamped G in low relief on the inside of the bowl at the base of the stem, to be read stem-down. Double-trapezoidal frame with pointed outside edges with a lobe at either end and a central transverse groove forming a pin notch, slight lobes on sides at either end of narrowed bars. Both have sheet pins and traces of white metal coating. One complete measuring 36 x 24.5mm. One broken just beyond bar, measuring (reconstructed) 34 x 23mm. See Whitehead (2003, 84, nos.523 - 524). 17th century.

Roman copper alloy Colchester Derivative Rear Hook brooch (Mackreth CD RH type). C-sectioned wings the edges damaged, scar from missing rear hook, oval-sectioned bow, most of catch-plate missing, pin and spring missing. The bow is plain, the wings decorated with a pair of angled lines and knurled rib either side of the bow. Length 39mm. Width 32mm. Mid 1st century.
