Two post-medieval copper alloy buckles. Double-trapezoidal frame with pointed outside edges with a lobe at either end and a central transverse groove forming a pin notch, slight lobes on sides at either end of narrowed bars. Both have sheet pins and traces of white metal coating. One complete measuring 36 x 24.5mm. One broken just beyond bar, measuring (reconstructed) 34 x 23mm. See Whitehead (2003, 84, nos.523 - 524). 17th century.

C-sectioned wings the edges damaged, scar from missing rear hook, oval-sectioned bow, most of catch-plate missing, pin and spring missing. The bow is plain, the wings decorated with a pair of angled lines and knurled rib either side of the bow. Length 39mm. Width 32mm. Mid 1st century.
