Rectangular with rounded corners, a central sub-triangular aperture with probably broken edges, with an empty rivet hole to either side. There mount is very slightly concave on the reverse, suggesting it may have been attached to a curved surface. Measuring 29 x 31mm. Circa 14th - 17th century. Finder's reference AB423.

One corner retains a copper alloy rolled sheet rivet, the other has broken across one rivet hole, with a second replacement hole punched through further into the plate. Traces of sooting. Probably part of a cooking pot, perhaps forming part of the attachment for the handle. Surviving dimensions 41 x 32mm. 14th - 17th century.
